LEGACY PAW PALS was founded to acknowledge the people who have so generously
and thoughtfully designated gifts to POSC through their estate plans.
Through LEGACY PAW PALS, POSC is able to honor and recognize those who are
assuring the perpetual welfare of companion animals.
As a member, you will join a community of select individuals who share a deep connection
to the welfare of animals and the quiet joy of knowing you are making a difference in the
lives of thousands of special dogs and cats each year.
If you have remembered POSC in your estate plans or are interested in doing so, please
contact us! By letting us know about your gift, not only do you enable us to say thanks,
but you will enhance your meaningful contribution by inspiring others to do the same.
Since POSC's humble beginnings in 1973, gifts received through wills and trusts have formed
the financial foundation of the organization, ensuring that we can continue to serve the
neediest pets of our community.
I'm interested . . . What should I do next?
POSC strongly suggests that your lawyer and/or financial advisor advise you about the methods
of giving that are most beneficial and appropriate for you. Then we suggest that you contact
us so that we can help you find the best way to help animals. Your gift can result in considerable
tax benefits.
Wills and Charitable Bequests - Does your Will reflect your life?
Your Will is an opportunity to demonstrate your consideration for your loved ones after you are gone.
It is also an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to a charitable organization that is of strong
significance to you.
A Will ensures that your assets will go to the people and/or causes you wish to support. A bequest in
your Will to POSC is a wonderful way to let others know of your commitment to animals in your
community.
Types of Bequests You Can Include In Your Will
- A specific sum of money
- Residue of an estate
- Property (This could be in the form of real estate, car,
jewelry or artwork.)
- Stocks and bonds
At POSC any bequest may be directed to specific use. However, a general gift allows us to
direct the monies received to the areas of greatest need.
Your Will should be made in consultation with your lawyer and/or your financial advisor. This
ensures that the document is legally binding, properly expresses your wishes and maximizes
tax benefits to your estate.
Leaving a Gift through Life Insurance
Charitable giving through life insurance is another alternative for leaving a legacy
for the animals through POSC. When using life insurance for charitable giving, you should
consider the different strategies available and their respective tax benefits. Listed
below are three ways in which you can help POSC with gifts of life insurance:
- Designate POSC as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy
- Name your estate as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy
- Transfer ownership of the policy to POSC
